Former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake lost the midterm election in November, but has never admitted defeat. Neither has Kristina Karamo (right). During CPAC, the two met.

NATIONAL HARBOR, MARYLAND (Aftenposten): Extreme candidates cost the right dearly in the mid-term elections, but there is no indication that they have taken the consequences.

– She is just as beautiful in real life as on TV. She is like a doll. Look at her! a woman exclaims enthusiastically.

A large crowd has gathered around Kari Lake, who has a clutch of security guards and counselors in tow.

At the conservative CPAC conference outside Washington DC, everyone wants a piece of the political superstar from Arizona.

– She is a fighter. One that puts America first. Her commitment is genuine, says Leigh Knopf (69).

Nobody seems to care that Lake has little to show in terms of results. All she has accomplished in her relatively short political career is losing an important gubernatorial election in Arizona.

Yet Lake and other election losers have achieved grassroots hero status. The paradox is becoming a major problem for Republicans.
