Less than a month after the official launch and the initiation of the first deliveries of the new Tesla Cybertruck, the first accident occurred on a public road, officially reported and registered. The accident caused great interest, as immediately after the launch of the model, which has a tough stainless steel body with the role of an exoskeleton, there were many opinions expressing their concern that the safety of the new Tesla model could be very precarious, especially for pedestrians and other vehicles that may collide with it.
The first accident, which we are talking about today, took place on the CA-17 route, in the afternoon of December 28 according to the local time zone, or during the night hours according to our time zone. The other car involved was a Toyota Corolla and the most important thing is that no one was seriously injured in this accident, as mentioned by the local police.
Several images were captured by passers-by, and they indicate a deployment of airbags in the Tesla Cybetruck, and the vehicle seems a little affected, although the images did not capture the left front part, where the impact took place. The Toyota, however, was severely deformed and thrown into the scenery.
According to the California police, the Toyota was also responsible for the accident. It skidded on a section covered with mud, exited the scenery, after which it exited the road again and headed in the opposite direction, where it hit the Tesla Cybetruck.
The initial data shows that the Tesla was not driven in autopilot mode, but in normal mode, with the driver handling the steering wheel.
