First suspected Omikron case in Styria

In other federal states there have already been several suspected as well as confirmed cases. Now there is also a specific suspicion of an infection with the Omikron variant of the coronavirus in Styria.

Now there is also a first suspected Omikron case in Styria: As the state of Styria announced in a broadcast on Monday evening, a person from the Graz-Umgebung district who recently returned from southern Africa tested positive for PCR last weekend. There is an “increased probability that it could be the virus mutation,” it said.

“The laboratory immediately sent the PCR sample to AGES for sequencing. The Graz-Umgebung District Authority has separated the infected person and their contact persons. There are currently no indications that there are those affected outside of the family environment,” was the broadcast refer to.
