First successful season in GT4 America for Gavin Sanders

Wednesday 9 November 2022 by Eliane Gilain

After taking second place at the GT4 America season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last month, Gavin Sanders is still in seventh heaven. “I’ve had a steep learning curve this year,” said the young Ontario driver, who previously competed in the Nissan Sentra Cup in Canada after karting. “Overall, the season has gone very well. I enjoyed discovering endurance races and traveling to the most prestigious circuits in North America, “he explains.

Gavin Sanders has made a big leap in his motorsport career this season, including participating in a major endurance series with one of the best teams in the paddock. “I have learned a lot and made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year, especially thanks to my team mate Michai Stephens. It was fantastic to be able to learn from him and work together as teammates ”he points out about his season in GT4 America.

The duo has achieved many good results, reaching the podium 12 times out of 14 possible. Stephens and Sanders took two wins, the first at the Virginia International Raceway and the second at the Sebring International Raceway. “It’s an extremely competitive series,” said Sanders, who drove the No. 34 of Conquest Racing in the Silver class. “When I arrived in GT4 America, I knew there was a high level of competition, but I didn’t expect it to be that intense. We fought hard in every event, leaving everything on track. Our team has done an extraordinary job, giving us a high-performance Mercedes-AMG in every session, “he added.

Gavin goes on to say, “I want to thank JMF Motorsports and John Farrow for their program. They gave me an extraordinary opportunity. They believed in me and helped me throughout the season ”.

Aside from his success with our southern neighbors, Gavin Sanders returned to the streets of Toronto in the Sports Car Championship Canada (SCCC) during the famous Honda Indy Toronto for two races. He drove a Mercedes-AMG GT4 to victory in one of the two races. “Thanks also to Fat Bastard Burrito, MotomasterR, Simoniz and Pro Series OE +, for their continued support. I am lucky to have committed partners who want to see me succeed. They have helped me since my Nissan Micra Cup debut a few years ago and are still with me to this day. Their support means a lot to me and I look forward to our future plans together. “
