It was a bit of a swallow for 19-year-old Giana. She achieved one of the highest scores during the audition episodes and also during the boot camp she passed all assignments with verve, despite her uncertainty. Young, blond and still very malleable. It seemed in advance an ideal successor for Klaasje. But the jury, of which Gert Verhulst was a member for the first time this season, saw it differently. “I don’t believe what you sing,” said jury member Samantha Steenwijk. Because Giana sang a song about grandmothers, her own grandmother danced along. “Nice diversion”, said jury member Natalia who was not so lyrical about the vocals.
The chance that a boy will succeed Klaasje has also become quite small. Dirk had to clear the field, and only Luca and Remi remain. Even jury member Ingeborg was not positive: “The best piece was when you were done singing and all you had to do was dance.”
