The first big hurdle in the fire service career was taken by 14 men and women from eight different fire departments from the central area of the Wrzburg district fire inspection.
The course, which was specially adapted to the so-called lateral entrants in the fire service, took place over two full weekends in Fuchsstadt. The lateral entrants are lukewarm Press release of the district fire inspection Women and men, who are between 30 and 60 years old, have only now joined a volunteer fire department and have not gone through the youth fire department. For this target group, this course was offered for the second time in the middle area in order to be able to support the fire brigades on site with qualified personnel.
Due to the current corona situation, a hygiene concept first had to be developed and implemented and the prerequisites for the theoretical and practical training first had to be created by the course organizers.
The participants had to learn many topics in self-study at home or topics were discussed on site in the fire department. Subsequently, topics such as alternative vehicle drives, securing against falls or physical and psychological stress in use were taught in the course. But also possible means of fire fighting, the handling of foam, devices for technical assistance as well as rescuing people from a crashed car, which was almost completely dismantled with hydraulic devices, were further training topics.
The successful participants were Sven Ziegler, Carolin Januschko, Kilian Kampf, Michael Kuhn (all Gaubttelbrunn), Oliver Flammersberger (Gomannsdorf), Thomas Kunick, Michael Sokopp (Kirchheim), Paul Busch, Steffen Dahinten (Sulzdorf), Anna Drsam (Erlach), Rainer Popp (Fuchsstadt), Thorsten Schalme (Giebelstadt), Christoph Lindner and Jrgen Heidenblut (Ochsenfurt).
In the end, the executives were very satisfied with the high level of performance and the test results. On the completion of the course, district fire inspector Heiko Drexel and district fire chief Jrgen Fu congratulated everyone on passing the exam.
