In Hokuriku, it is expected that there will be snow in some mountainous areas from the night of the 12th (Sunday) to the 13th (Monday). What is the first snowfall?
First snowfall refers to when the area near the summit appears white due to falling snow for the first time, as seen from the meteorological office at the foot of the mountain, from August 1st to July 31st of the following year.
The first snowfall differs from the first snowfall in that it requires that the area near the top of the mountain looks white from the weather observatory at the foot of the mountain. Even if you climb a mountain and find that it’s snowing, it doesn’t mean it’s the first snowfall.
Also, it must be visible from the foot of the mountain, and no matter how much snow there is on the mountain, if it is blocked by clouds and cannot be seen, it will not be the first snowfall. The first snowfall occurs when the snow accumulates so much that it can be seen from a distance, and then it clears up and can be seen from the foot of the mountain.
(Note that the first snow cap on Mt. Fuji occurs on the day when the average daily temperature is the highest of the year. Observations show that the area near the summit appears white due to snow from the meteorological observatory at the foot of the mountain.) This is a condition.)
