After his scandal-ridden “Hanau”, Uwe Boll now has a new film at the start with “First Shift”. This is a cop thriller set in New York. We have the first trailer for you:
Although most critics in the past have hardly left a good hair on the films of Uwe Boll (“Siegburg”), the director enjoys cult status – not least because of this. Born in Wermelskirchen, he serves us classic genre cinema with “First Shift”: a rugged cop thriller set on the streets of New York awaits us here.
The focus of the action are the police officer Deo (Gino Anthony Pesi) and his partner Angela (Kristen Renton), who take the first steps of their law enforcement career together. Together they not only have to deal with the everyday madness on the streets of New York, but also get to deal with the organized crime that has the Big Apple firmly in its hands, in addition to private problems.
Uwe Boll shows full commitment
Even if “First Shift” doesn’t correspond at first glance to the agitation cinema that Uwe Boll has dedicated himself to for many years with films like “Darfur”, “Auschwitz” or the “Rampage” trilogy, the cop thriller naturally also has one socio-political substructure. The insight into the everyday life of both committed and overwhelmed police officers is of up-to-date relevance. Uwe Boll acts as director, author and producer in personal union.
Starring Gino Anthony Pesi (“Shades Of Blue”) and Kristen Renton (“Sons Of Anarchy”). Also joining the cast of First Shift are James McMenamin (Orange Is The New Black), Daniel Sauli (The Deuce), Brandi Bravo (Rogue), Garry Pastore (The Irishman), Tom Ukah ( The Crowned Room), Cate Bottiglione (The Politician) and Aaron Berg (The Bloody Path of God 2).
It is still unclear when “First Shift” will be shown in this country. However, one can assume that the film will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in Germany in the first or second quarter of next year (2024).
