This Sunday, May 7, they came in large numbers from Sarreguemines, Sarrebourg, Forbach, Créhange-Faulquemont, Florange, Thionville-Yutz and the Cheminots de Metz to participate in the first round of the French athletics club championships at the Pierre- from Coubertin to Sarreguemines. 350 athletes who took part in events specific to their sport: running, jumping, pole vault, shot put, walking.

Specialists in every event
Thus, the athletes competed on the beautiful Coubertin track in the 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1,500 m, 110 m hurdles, 3,000 m steeplechase (middle-distance race with obstacles) boys, 3 000m boys, 400m hurdles, 4 X 100m relay, 4 X 400m.
“There are eight competitions in height, pole, length, triple jump, shot put, discus, javelin, hammer. Without forgetting the march, ”explains the president of Assa, happy to welcome everyone in good weather on this Sunday morning.
“Each club tries to offer specialists in the events. This is the case of Sarreguemines classified in N1B. Today, we have no accounting target. But in 15 days, for the second round of the French championship, it will be different. Out of eight teams, six will have to be ranked first… I’m confident. Our team holds the road; it is better than last year…”
