First reactions to “Terrifier 3” promise clear horror

The horror film “Terrifier 3” celebrated its world premiere at the Fantastic Fest and the first voices couldn’t be clearer: This will be pure gore.

In the horror genre, no film in 2024 is likely to attract more attention and be more eagerly awaited than “Terrifier 3”. Well, maybe “Smile 2 – Do You See It Too?” will attract more interest from ordinary cinema audiences due to its mass appeal. But mass appeal has never been the goal of director Damien Leone with the horrifying splatter adventures of his cult character Art the Clown. After all, the “Terrifier” series originates from the independent gore and splatter genre with clear exploitation elements. This genre usually serves a niche audience. The “Terrifier” films are now mainstream in comparison.

While the first film was made with relatively modest means, Leone was able to use an extremely generous million-dollar budget for high-quality equipment for “Terrifier 3”. This gave him the opportunity to let Art carry out his bloody work against a festive Christmas backdrop. And very important for horror fans: For the first time, the production was able to be supplemented by a professional make-up team. The horror film celebrated its world premiere at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. The audience there seems to have liked it extremely well, and Leone thanked them for their support via X (formerly Twitter):

“Thank you to everyone who came out to Fantastic Fest to attend the world premiere of ‘Terrifier 3.’ You are amazing and your support for the franchise means the world to me. We loved hearing your reactions tonight.”

In Germany, “Terrifier 3” will be released on 31. October 2024 in cinemas, just in time for Halloween. You can watch the trailer here:

“Terrifier 3” will be the most brutal and bloodiest (cinema) film of the year

Anyone who goes to the cinema to see a film like “Terrifier 3” does not expect an intelligent, twist-filled plot, or perhaps even good acting. All that counts are the kills. And there are apparently not only a lot of them, but also extremely creative ones. Leone and his team have raised the bar even higher, judging by the initial reactions:

“Holy shit. Nothing can prepare you for the beautiful brutality I just witnessed on screen. Terrifier 3 is one of the hardest films I’ve seen in years. I want to watch it again right now.”

“‘Terrifier 3’ is some sick, twisted shit (compliments). The movie looks stunning. Lauren LaVera has a final girl scene for the ages and David Howard Thornton rocks as Art the Clown once again. More backstory!!!”

“Just watched Terrifer 3! The violence surpasses previous entries and Art is more vicious than ever. Some gag-inducing kills. Impressive as always!” [David Howard] Thornton and Lauren LaVera steal the show. I still have a lot of questions about the story, but other than that, I loved it! I need more!”

“Terrifier 3 is easily my favorite in the series, but it wouldn’t be what it is without the first two films. The story from the second film continues and is given a depth that is only possible by what has come before. It’s more than just another gore film. Art is sillier and funnier than ever and his crazy Santa outfit makes for an unforgettable movie experience. Art the Claus is the winner! 4/5 stars.”

“‘Terrifier 3’ goes one step and then 54 more steps too far. An absolute splatterfest of unimaginable proportions. The shower scene will go down in (film) history. Lauren LaVera is such a great leading lady. Lots of twisted and neat insights into the backstory that is very much like ‘Hellraiser’. Damn!”

“‘Terrifier 3’ is truly evil. And I mean that in the best possible way. Grindhouse beyond grindhouse. Truly gross practical effects mixed with a story that gets more and more complicated. I don’t know how Damien Leone tops that. Lauren LaVera is THE final girl.”

“‘Terrifier 3’ is without a doubt the most disgusting, bloodthirsty and disgusting thing I have ever seen. I kind of enjoyed it?”

“‘Terrifier 3’ is gore, gore and gore. Damien Leone once again pushes the boundaries of hardcore trash with a ‘Terrifier 3’ on the verge of vomit overdose. We thought we’d already seen the worst this year with the yoga scene in ‘A Violent Nature’ (those who have seen it will understand), but this… Between the generous intro in Hemogoblin, a long smash scene with Santa Claus, a memorable shower scene or the finale that turns all the walls red, ‘Terrifier 3’ is a disgust fest the likes of which we haven’t seen since the great era of underground gore in the 80s.”

Real “Terrifier” fans obviously need parts 1 and 2 in the best possible quality and in high-quality packaging for their film shelves.
