First phase according to Pfizer for vaccines against COVID-19 is for 250 thousand doses: AMLO

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador He explained that, initially, the Government of Mexico will receive 250 thousand doses of Pfizer’s vaccine against COVID-19 as part of the contract that will be signed this Wednesday.

“We are solving nothing more than there because it has to be two applications, two doses. So we are seeing if there are 125 thousand and 125 thousand doses or 250 thousand and 250 thousand doses. That is to be resolved in the next few days,” he added.

Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell said Tuesday that the final version of the agreement with the pharmaceutical company is already in place.

He added that it is possible that Mexico will have a supply of units of this vaccine before the end of 2020, to start with the vaccination against the coronavirus in the country.

On this point, López Obrador announced that the Ministry of Health you already have a vaccination plan against the new coronavirus that will be presented next Tuesday at the National Palace.

López Obrador stressed that this includes which population groups will first receive the dose prepared by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.

The vaccine from these two companies received emergency approval from the United Kingdom on Wednesday, which became the first nation in the world to endorse its use.

The British government indicated that it hopes to start the vaccination campaign from next week.
