Out for Holger Badstuber! The former star of VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern Munich has to look for a new club.

As the club announced on Thursday, the contract with defender Holger Badstuber (32) was terminated early.

“We are grateful to Holger for his highly professional commitment, which he has shown for the FCL in the past few months,” said FCL sports director Remo Meyer (41).

The statement continued: “Even if we end the cooperation earlier than originally planned, we were able to benefit from Holger’s great experience and wish him all the best for his future.”

Badstuber also expressed himself in a tweet. There he wrote that his contract was “dissolved by mutual agreement”.

He also made it clear that his career shouldn’t be over yet: “I’ve set myself a few more goals in professional football. I’ll tackle them with 100 percent passion in the new year.”

As the premature termination of the contract suggests, Badstuber’s time at FC Luzern was anything but successful. The club is currently in last place in the Credit Suisse Super League.

The experienced defender, who only moved to Switzerland from VfB Stuttgart in the summer, was held responsible for this sporting misery. He was targeted by the press there. “Badstuber has the reputation of being a big name in his guild. But with what the supposed defensive strategist is currently putting on the pitch in the FCL dress, he is damaging the icon he created himself years ago,” it said among other things in a text of the portal central plus.

Ultimately, Badstuber should be happy that the misunderstanding between him and FC Luzern has now come to an end.
