“First Look: Volkswagen ID.7, the Electric Replacement for the Passat, Revealed Ahead of Debut”

The first images of the Volkswagen Passat’s electric replacement have hit the internet even before the new model’s official debut. Images of the new Volkswagen ID.7 hit the internet before the car was officially unveiled, and the examples were caught without a hint of camouflage.

Earlier this year, Volkswagen unveiled a camouflaged prototype of what would eventually become the ID.7, an all-electric sedan meant to compete with the Tesla Model 3, serving as the Passat’s electric replacement. The new electric sedan is set to debut on April 18 at the Shanghai Auto Show.

However, we do get to see the final design sooner. This is possible because the final design has been revealed to the patent office of China’s Ministry of Interior, giving us a look at the new model and what we can expect from the versions that will also arrive in Europe, writes Carscoops.

As we can see in the images, the series design for the ID.7 incorporates elements from the ID.Aero, ID.Vizzion and ID.Space Vizzion concepts. It is also worth noting that the Chinese market model name is “ID.7 Vizzion”. It is not known if this will be used in other markets.

Some features that have remained true to the concept are the design of the rear end as well as the all black roof with contrasting chrome strip. And the recessed door handles have been carried over from the production model.

As for the specifications, we already know that the new Volkswagen ID.7 will offer an autonomy of up to 700 kilometers. Customers will also have a version with two electric motors.

The model for the Chinese market will be equipped with a 77 kWh battery and will have a maximum power of 204 HP. The maximum speed is limited to 155 km/h. We note that these figures have not been confirmed by Volkswagen.
