Kraven the Hunter, one of the well-known Spider-Man villains from the comics, made a splash at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday, with star Aaron Taylor-Johnson sending a video to give the first glimpse of the Sony film to cinema owners. In the footage, Taylor-Johnson is seen wearing Kraven’s trademark fur, and the classic Spider-Man villain The Rhino is revealed to be in the feature, played by actor Alessandro Nivola. Kraven stopped a caravan of poachers and quickly killed them, including by biting one man and spitting out part of his skin to the camera. The footage unveiled that the movie will be Sony’s first R-rated Marvel feature. Sony controls the film rights to Marvel’s Spider-Man, including a number of ancillary characters. With success from features like Venom, which stunned with $856 million globally in 2018, Kraven looks set to be another winning entry for the studio. Directed by J.C. Chandor, Kraven has a release date of Oct. 6 and also stars Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Christopher Abbott and Russell Crowe.
