The first lady, Verónica Alcocer, did not mind the long and elegant skirt that she wore this Tuesday, May 2, during the start of the state visit of President Gustavo Petro to Spain, to demonstrate, once again, her dancing skills in Europe.
Upon leaving the Colombian Embassy in Spain, Alcocer, accompanied by her entourage and a security detail, was surprised by a group of mapalé dancers, apparently Colombians, who with their colorful carnival skirts invited her to dance.
Cooking –as almost always happens– had no problem. And, before the gaze of dozens of Spaniards, he left protocol aside and improvised his own dance floor. Hip movements, arms and more than one applause from the first lady are observed in the videos that circulate on social networks. She ended up dancing in the middle of the artists, including King Momo and other artists from the Barranquilla Carnival.
The scenes occurred after the president’s wife toured the Colombian entrepreneurs fair in Madrid, which shows Europeans 60 of their gastronomic, tourist, and craft products, among others. In the event there was fandango, currulao, vallenato, among other typical Colombian dances.
Alcocer has said that she has no problem dancing because music runs through her veins. In addition, she considers that, through her well-known dances, she promotes the country’s culture.
The president’s diplomatic trip will last four days, but Alcocer will stay in Europe. It should be remembered that on May 6, King Carlos III, the son of Queen Elizabeth, and who will succeed her on the throne after her death on September 8, 2022, will be crowned.
The first lady will travel to England on behalf of the Government of Colombia. She, as preliminarily planned, will attend Westminster Abbey, the most important religious building in London, where the formal ceremony will take place. That day, she will also wear the crown the queen consort Camila Parker.
