First lady Eva Pavlova probably doesn’t come out, but… The castle is not a donkey, shake it

There are clouds of them on the portals of employment agencies. It’s a wonder that a lady with such an outlook can’t choose! Closest to Prague Castle are a couple of hypermarkets where saleswomen are constantly asking for the cash register. Well, if she wanted to use her competences, she could run down the hill and “stitch up” somewhere in the Ministry of Defense…

High-end dresses cost a fortune

However, it is not that simple! Every coin has two sides. The public somehow generally expects the First Lady to fulfill representative duties. Meeting with ambassadors, wives of other heads of state, participating in charity events.

Well, that just costs something. The tabloids don’t let Ms. Eve off the hook when she wears something that doesn’t match the fashion police’s tastes. So you can’t ask her to buy clothing items second-hand somewhere.

Once upon a time, Mrs. Hana Benešová used to go to the famous fashion salon of Hana Podolská to have some really tasteful dresses made for her. Podolská, she could do it, but later she inadvertently found herself in a golden cage. Marta Gottwaldová also started coming to her with the same request for a costume, and she didn’t take advice – she wanted everything exactly like her predecessor…

Sumička, approaching the even hundred thousand appanage, came from Prague Castle. The mechanism of its calculation was then clarified by the outgoing chairman of the People’s Party, Jureček, calculated as a third of the compensation that goes into the president’s pocket. He then spiced up the sauce with an opinion about the time in which we live.

Questionnaire

Do you consider the proposal for a reward for the first lady from the state coffers to be acceptable?

They make fun of us. Let them be gone!

She could take something. Adequately though. 100,000 is an unrealistic sum for nothing.

If she can’t make ends meet, let her start a collection for herself and not burden the state budget.

Václav Havel’s wife Olga never allowed a similar discussion. The wife of Mr. President Klaus arranged her time between representative duties and the position of ambassador in Slovakia, so she was able to take care of herself. Mrs. Ivana Zemanová received part of the presidential allowance from her husband’s wallet.

The President takes CZK 341,000, of which he does not pay a single crown for health and social insurance. Another flow of money into the presidential coffers is 300,000 as compensation for expenses. Both sums are subject to only 15% tax, and as a bonus, free housing in representative premises, security, a car with a driver, two telephones and paid health care without any limit. It’s not enough!

We tighten our belts. Every month we are surprised to see how much we have lost thanks to the jump in energy, we don’t go to the pub, we limit our visits to cinemas and theaters in our free time, we save for spas, cantors can only dream of adding a few hundred… echoes from the forest!

A responsible proposal could be the introduction of contributions from the presidential salary to health and social care. The office of the president is not and cannot be compared to a royal crown, and a citizen who is elected to the role of head of state cannot expect that his pages will bring him a chest full of gold coins every month.

And the wife knew what she was getting into. At home in Černouček, they must have had their dream projected at least several times in front of their eyes… She decided to support her husband and follow him! Just like any other partner of a candidate for the Castle would do.

Similar problems are sometimes solved in the world. But those who want more often have nothing! In France, even President Emmanuel Macron came across Jureck’s idea, and his wife Brigitte is now teaching at school again. Spouses or partners of heads of state do not receive a single crown anywhere else in the world. And in Germany, the chancellor’s income is even more than 100,000 less than that of the Czech General Pavel… Prague Castle is not a donkey, shake it!
