First lady and city councilor in Minas Gerais dies in accident and mayor mourns: ‘deep pain’

The first woman from the city of Santa Juliana, in the Triângulo Mineiro, died on Friday night (November 1) in traffic accident on LMG Highway 798at KM 35, in the rural area of ​​Uberaba. The mayor, Belchior (PSDB), used social media to say goodbye to his wife, Eleuza Borges da Silva, 58 years old. The first lady was accompanied by an elected city councillor, Vitor Borges, 39 years old. Two others were injured in the crash, which involved four vehicles.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Eleuza Borges, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and beloved companion. We have no words to describe the deep pain we feel at this time. We pray to God to support us and give us strength to go through this irreparable loss”, lamented the mayor in a post on Instagram, “We also lost, in an accident terrible last night, our illustrious Vitor Felipe May God, in his infinite kindness, strengthen us all in this difficult time.”

According to information from the Highway Military Police (PMR), Eleuza was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, and Vitor was a passenger. Both were trapped in the wreckage, and were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the report of the Fire Department, the accident happened in the area of ​​Santa Rosa, 15 kilometers from the center of the city of Uberaba. A trailer full of acid, a truck full of onions and two passenger vehicles were involved in the accident. Four others were injured and taken to hospitals in Uberaba, also in the Triângulo Mineiro.

The chemical product that one of the trucks was carrying out onto the road and the area was isolated and environmental groups were called. The firefighters’ document does not clarify the dynamics of the accident and the case is still under investigation.
