A first jazz concert not to be missed on April 15th.

L’Aramusique is proud to invite you to its first concert at the Théâtre Alphonse Desjardins for the concert: Young, Dylan, Mitchell… version jazz, Thursday April 15 at 5.30 p.m., as part of his new Apéro-Jazz series.

The Alphonse-Desjardins Theater (TAD) finally opens its doors in early April with its first events. For the occasion, the jazz man, the double bassist Éric Lagacé, joins the pianist Guillaume Martineau and the singer Janna Kate to interpret the title songs of the 60s and 70s by bringing their own jazz color. Come relive or discover Blowin’ in the wind de Bob Dylan, You’ve got a friend the Carole King, Harvest Moon by Neil Young or River de Joni Mitchell.

Of Austrian origin, singer Janna Kate learned musically not only by studying in Vienna, but even more by traveling the world. It was by going to clubs in New York that she really learned about jazz and by walking the streets of Rio de Janeiro that she assimilated the rhythms of Brazilian music. In Mumbai, Janna Kate also took an interest in traditional Indian singing. She is currently improving with Ranee Lee (McGill) in Montreal.

For his part, the musical universe of Guillaume Martineau is multiple and always in motion. The latter accumulates experiences without giving up anything. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montreal and a master’s degree in classical performance from McGill University, he studied at Indiana University, then in jazz at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He won first prize at the Canadian Music Competition dedicated to classical music in 2009.

Double bassist, for more than 30 years, Éric Lagacé has always played both jazz and classical music. At the age of 21, he was found in the Vic Vogel orchestra, then at 24, in the Orchester symphonique de Québec. It was at this point that he began to develop a passion for writing and the keyboard. Éric Lagacé has signed more than 250 arrangements and compositions, here and around the world, and numerous orchestras and ensembles have performed his works.

From jazz to tango

A week later, on Friday April 23 at 7 p.m., Aramusique invites you to the Concert Tango Virtuoso where cellist Stéphane Tétreault and bandoneonist Denis Plante team up for a dive into the world of classical tango and tango nuevo: this tandem will perform on their instruments works by Astor Piazzolla, Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan Carlos Cobián and Dino Saluzzi, as well as original compositions by Denis Plante.

For these two concerts, you can reserve your tickets at the box office by phone at 450 589-9198 or online at www.aramusique.org.
