The third generation Volkswagen Tiguan is being tested on civilian roads, where it has already been captured by cameras and car camera lenses.
Judging by the photos taken, the company does not intend to radically change the appearance of the crossover. The model will likely change beyond recognition closer to 2030 when the model becomes an electric car. Or it will be completely forgotten and replaced by the ID .4 electric crossover.
Meanwhile, the good news is that the new car will be equipped with internal combustion engines – petrol and diesel.
The photos show that the model will have a new grille. Its upper part, located between the headlights, will be closed, and the engine compartment will be blown through a huge air intake located below.
With its proportions, the new car resembles the current second-generation Tiguan, but it looks like the crossover will get a little bigger. As a result, the model can get a 7-seater salon and attract buyers from the Touareg crossover.
The Tiguan is built on the MQB Evo platform, which underpins the eighth generation Golf, Audi A3 and Skoda Octavia. This will allow the new Tiguan to be equipped with hybrid powertrains.
The basis can become a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 150 hp. An eTSI version with mild hybrid technology is also available.
Diesel versions will have 150 and 200 hp, and hybrid – 241 hp. The appearance of a pro-sports version of the Tiguan R is also possible.
