Tommy Shelby is back. The filming of the movie Peaky Blinders – whose title has yet to be officially confirmed – has officially started in the UK and the team has already given fans a first look.
The Oscar winner Cillian Murphy reprises his iconic role as the legendary leader of the gangster family in a sequel for which many plot details have yet to be revealed. For now, the only thing that has advanced Steven Knightthe creator of the series and responsible for the film, is that everything will revolve around two stories.
“I know exactly what the movie is about. And I know which two stories he is going to tell. How the story will develop, I don’t know,” he said in an interview in Esquire. “What happens next, I want it to depend on the movie. “For all we know, someone is going to show up, I think I know who it’s going to be.”
Knight also admitted that this time he will explore a new generation of characters, but with Tommy Shelby playing a central role.
“Let’s bring in the new generationand they are going to be part of what happens in the movie. I think it’s about finding those actors that you see and think, there you go. That’s where the future is.”
As for the cast, along with Murphy, the incorporation of Rebecca Ferguson (Silo, Dune), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, Souls in Pain in Inisherin) y Tim Roth (Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings). Tom Hardy, who played Alfie Solomon in the series, has openly expressed his interest in returning to the franchise, but it has not yet been announced if he will be present.
Peaky Blinders It came to an end after six seasons on BBC and Netflix in April 2022.
The continuation of the saga is written by Knight and directed by Tom Harper.
“I am delighted to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter in the history of Peaky Blinders,” said the creator of the franchise in an official statement. “This new stage It will be set in World War II.. The country is at war and, of course, so are our Peaky Blinders“.
