The submarine was attacked on September 13, when a missile hit a shipyard in Russia’s annexed Crimea, in the Black Sea port of Sevastopol.
Images obtained by investigative journalists show the extent of the damage to the submarine while it was in dry dock.

It appears to have been hit twice by missiles supplied to Ukraine by Great Britain and France. Both left gaping holes in the case and ruined the internal mechanics. The submarine’s habitable compartments and other areas were also damaged, meaning it is unlikely to see any further combat.
One large hole “is located at the top of the submarine’s bow”, according to a satellite image of the stricken ship. The second hit was made on the starboard side of the boat in the area behind the command post. “It, unlike the first one, cannot be seen from satellite images,” the report said.
This submarine was also sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the war to attack Ukraine.
On the same day, the Sea Baby kamikaze drone damaged the Russian missile carrier Samum near the port of Sevastopol, while the naval drone also damaged the Vasiliy Bykov patrol boat.
