Laboratory results: Confirmed discovery of H9N2 avian influenza in the patient.

Additional details: The patient is 37 years old and has underlying health conditions. He is currently being treated in a negative pressure isolation room in the ICU at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases. with severe respiratory complications (pneumonia) and sepsis

Close contacts: 15 people have been in close contact with the patient and are being continuously monitored. No additional people with suspected symptoms have been found, so there is still no evidence of human-to-human transmission.

Additional information: From 2015 until the present. A total of 98 confirmed cases of H9N2 avian influenza have been reported in the Western Pacific region, including two deaths. Most of the cases (96) were in China and two in Cambodia. Both of the deceased had pre-existing chronic disease problems.
