Chris Columbus was quite nervous during the first recordings of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone). The director, who already had numerous successes to his name, feared being fired every day.
Columbus already made in the nineties Home Alone in Mrs Doubtfire before he began filming JK Rowling’s book. Despite his experience, he was afraid of not getting it right.
“For the first two weeks, all I really thought was that I was going to get fired. If I did one thing wrong, it would be done. inside I was overflowing with emotion, “Columbus said in conversation with Collider.
Columbus is regularly complimented with his film adaptation and felt a lot of pleasure while shooting the film adaptation of the second book. “There I had the feeling that I could show a little more of myself, because it was okay now.”
After the second film, Columbus was replaced by several other directors. He would have liked to return for the final parts, but is a fan of the David Yates film adaptation. “He had the choice to stay and he did it really well. I especially love the last movie. I think it’s brilliant.”
