First-graders pass the tests without any problems. And they can also read them

First-grade students could not be tested until Thursday, but some schools did so on Wednesday, when the school year began.

In Mladá Boleslav, a class teacher and assistants helped the children prepare test kits. The problem for some was perhaps only the opening of plastic packaging. Instead of paper stands for ampoules attached to the kits by the manufacturer, they had their own improver here.

A little more massive, but otherwise quite ordinary plastic clothes peg, in which an ampoule of solution was attached so that it would not fall. “We have been using them since last year, we bought them all over Boleslav, we needed eight hundred pegs for the school,” laughed Jindřiška Nováková, the school’s deputy headmistress, during a simple but necessary addition during testing.

“If there were commas on both letters, it would be positive,” she told Práva a sovereignly small first-grader as she and her new classmates waited for the litmus paper to color.

“It seems that testing is no longer something for children that would surprise them, they are used to it. We offered parents if they wanted to be there so they could supervise or help, but no one took advantage. I have a feeling when I compare children from the past that the new ones are getting smarter, and when they enter the first grade, they already know a lot and can handle things like testing, “said the deputy director.

Just like on Wednesday at the beginning of the school year for older children, on Thursday for first-graders, the two commas did not appear in any test. The children were finally able to start focusing on why they came to school, that is, learning.
