First gold coin winner shows up at the Brussels bakery almost ten days after Epiphany: “won 480 euros? I was shocked a hat” | Brussels

On January 6, they stood in long queues, the customers of bakery De Weerdt in Sint-Gillis who hoped to find one of the two gold coins in their Epiphany cake. In the end, two thousand cakes went out that day. Still, it was until Saturday – almost ten days later – before a winner showed up at the bakery. “Suddenly a man walked in with the gold coin,” says a satisfied baker Luc De Weerdt (59). “He was shocked when I told him that he had earned 480 euros. He thought that the coin was ‘only’ worth 200 euros, just like the past two years.”
