As temperatures across the country plummeted, the first sangodae of this fall was observed at Baeknokdam on Hallasan Mountain in Jeju.
According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, as cold air moved south from the northwest, the temperature dropped significantly, with the lowest temperature at Baeknokdam on Hallasan Mountain on the morning of the 21st reaching -1.6 degrees Celsius.
As a result, the first frost formation (rime) was observed at Baeknokdam this fall.

Last year, the first sangodae was observed near Baeknokdam on October 18.
The Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration predicted, “Even on the 22nd, there will be frost or ice forming in mountainous areas over 1,500 meters above sea level,” adding, “In particular, there will be places where the temperature will drop below freezing and ice will freeze.”
