Half of the pupils of the aeronautical workshop of the college Les Fontaines were able to taste the joys of piloting for free within the aeroclub of Gard. The apprentice pilots thus flew for almost an hour in perfect weather conditions, which allowed them to fully appreciate the landscape: “It is difficult to find one’s bearings and to recognize the villages which all look alike from above. The only easily recognizable landmark is the Pont du Gard in the absence of road signs!”. The two pilots, specifically selected by the flying club to carry out the Initiation to Aeronautics (BIA) flights, carried out several rotations, each taking two students who were successively in the front and rear seats: “The pilot left us the stick and under his control we were able to do climbs and even turns, it’s really very impressive.”
For Christophe Pichon, the workshop speaker: “A flight is a culmination that rewards several weeks of lessons, so a big thank you to the volunteers of the Aeroclub for organizing and transmitting this passion which can quickly become a virus!”
