Ford revealed what the first electric car produced in Romania will look like. 500 million euros is invested in the manufacture of the vehicle in Craiova. In tandem with Dacia Spring, the first in sales in our country, the new Romanian electric Ford will greatly inflate the national GDP, economists believe.

The E-Transit Courier comes with a bold exterior and a spacious interior. The new model that will be mass-produced from next year, in Craiova, also has unique features. The car will be able to be driven with only one pedal that accelerates or brakes.

In addition, the steering wheel is designed in such a way as to increase the driver’s visibility and comfort. The vehicle will also offer fast charging capacity of up to 100 kW. “The system is capable of adding 87 kilometers of autonomy in 10 minutes and charging from 10 to 80% in less than 35 minutes,” says Ana Maria Timiș, PR Ford.
Almost 30,000 cars with zero emissions are already on the roads in Romania. Dacia Spring leads sales, followed by Renault Megane and Tesla Model Y. Dacia and Ford are betting on many buyers, in a market open to electric cars.

Good news for Romania’s GDP
“More important is the economic gain for the Romanian economy, because car manufacturers, as we well know, from 2035, combustion-powered cars will be banned from sale. Basically, there are two options for car manufacturers: either they become electric, or they electrify the range of cars, or they simply stop production”, says Ciprian Cherciu, automotive energy analyst.
The growing appetite for electric cars has brought record sales in Romania. In the first four months of this year, our country sold twice as many cars with zero pollution as Hungary, Greece or the Czech Republic.
