This week cinematographic art will have its home in Marín with the first edition of the “John Balan Fest- Filmes Atlántico se Novos Medios” launched by Dani Antelo with the participation of prominent characters from Galician cinema and an extensive and intense program that for three days will welcome the interest of fans of the seventh art.

It will be the first festival dedicated to the cinematographic arts of an international nature in Marín and an event that was born with the purpose of consolidating itself here with intensity and with a view to the future.
A selection of 48 pieces chosen from 160 works
According to Dani Antelo explains “The official selection of the JBF has been very close, with the participation of more than 160 pieces from all over the world, of which 12 make up the official selection of Atlantic Films, 12 of Other Views, 12 of Novos Medios (web series) and 12 of Cinema Xove (film schools) and they were chosen by Mayka Braña, Lara Dopazo Rubial, Carlos Prado Pampín and Marco Haidar, from the Argentine audiovisual school La Lumière, a team of judges, who undoubtedly give added value to the competition”.
Ocho silver hats
The 48 works that passed the jury’s filter will be the finalists that make up the exhibition of this first edition of the contest. “The wannabe productions – indicate the organizer of the festival – compete to get one of the eight Silver hats that represent the categories with an option to the original award:
* Best Feature Film,
* Best Short Film and
* Best Web Series,
* Best Production (which also receives the CREA prize with €200),
* Best Performance, Emerging Talent Award, Audience Award and John Balan Special Award for lifetime achievement in the performing and cinematographic arts.
Already starting from hoythe nominees for the John Balan Awards will be announced”.

Manuel Manquiña, primer “Golden Sombrero”
The contest contemplates the recognition of the professional career that in this first edition will be for the actor Manuel Manquiña who will receive the “Golden Hat” as a special award that honors the career in the performing and cinematographic arts, an act that will take place on Saturday 26 at noon with the awards ceremony to be held at the Seixo House of Culture.
In the coming days we will provide more details of this first event that will put Marín in the field of cinema and will feature prominent figures from the world of local, Galician and international cinema, which will be the first stone to build an annual event in successive editions. of category that counts among others, with the important support of the Concello marinense.
