Abu Dhabi, October 15 / WAM / The first edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Padel Championship concluded, with the participation of more than 170 players, across 70 teams, from the Emirates and 20 countries.
The tournament activities continued from Thursday to Saturday at the Padel Plus Academy in Abu Dhabi, and the competition was held at 3 levels (advanced, intermediate, and beginner).
Angela Caro and Koti Vega won first place in the Advanced category, Sahibi Fard and Jay Vichthong won the Intermediate category, and Afra Al Hajri and Fatima Al Hammadi won the Beginner category.
The tournament activities and the crowning of the winners were witnessed by Her Excellency Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy, Her Excellency Amal Al Afifi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy, and Saeed Al Marri, Secretary General of the UAE Padel Federation.
Her Excellency Dr. Omniyat Al-Hajri expressed her happiness with the wide participation in the first edition because the large turnout confirmed the importance of the event.
She added: “Organizing these tournaments supports our players and gives them diverse skills and experiences.”
Her Excellency Amal Al-Afifi confirmed that the tournament in its first edition is an important step towards enhancing women’s participation in the field of sports, and contributed to encouraging girls to develop their skills during the matches.
