Hansa got off to a good start and was the better team in the early stages of the match. After 15 minutes, the tables turned, the Kogge were now nervous in their passing and not focused enough in the duels. Jena took full advantage of this, gratefully accepted the gifts and took the lead after 22 minutes through Emily Reske, then increased it to 0:2 around ten minutes later through Helen Börner. “After a good opening, we lost the thread and made it very easy for the opponent,” said head coach Tino Spörk, who also had to admit the erratic second half of the first period. His team went into the second period with the burden of a 0:2 deficit.
The Hansa women looked like a different team – they were now more aggressive in the duels and put pressure on the opposing goal. “We didn’t give up despite being behind. I have to compliment my team on that,” said Spörk, who also praised his team despite the defeat. Our FCH did indeed create a few opportunities, but failed to convert them into something tangible. The guests from Thuringia defended their lead and repeatedly launched counterattacks against the Hansa women, who were sometimes overwhelmingly superior. But neither team managed to score in the second half, so the score remained 0:2 from Rostock’s perspective. After the game, Hansa coach Spörk was annoyed about the result: “We gave away the points in the first half today. Unfortunately, we somehow don’t manage to play as freely in front of the home crowd as we do away from home.” Despite the first defeat of the season, our FC Hansa is on target after three match days and four points – but now has two difficult away games ahead of them. Next weekend we’re going to Viktoria Berlin, and a week later the U23s from Union Berlin are waiting for our girls.
