Bangalore: Breakit Karnataka beat Kerala for the 4th consecutive victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy cricket. Karnataka beat Kerala by 9 wickets in the second consecutive century of Malayalee star Devdutt Padikkal. Score: Kerala 277 for 8 in 50 overs and Karnataka 279 for 1 in 45.3 overs.
Kerala could not recover from the shock of losing Robin Uthappa (0) in the first ball of the innings (0) and Sanju Samson (3) in the 4th ball of the 2nd over. Valsal Govind (95), captain Sachin Baby (54) and Mohammad Azharuddin (59 not out) were the standout performers but failed to put the team on high. Abhimanyu Mithun took 5 wickets. In reply, Devdutt and K Siddharth (86) put on 180 for the second wicket to give Karnataka the lead. Karnataka topped the Elite Group C. Kerala fell to 3rd position.
