The San Antonio Spurs suffered their first defeat in the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) bubble in Orlando on Monday (local time). At 130: 132 against the Philadelphia 76ers, Jakob Pöltl scored four points, rebounds and assists as well as one steal and block in 24:50 minutes. The Texans dropped back to tenth place in the Western Conference.
The Spurs had not only made up for an interim 87: 101 (37th minute) in the closing quarter, but had even clocked up 129: 125 one minute before the end. The third victory seemed within reach. But Shake Milton scored at just seven seconds on the clock from a distance of 131: 130 and thus the first win for the 76ers after two defeats in the “bubble”. Joel Embiid contributed 27 counters. “All in all, it was a solid performance, unfortunately with a bitter end,” says Pöltl.
The veterans DeMar DeRozan (30) and Rudy Gay (24) were the most successful throwers in the Spurs. Pöltl summed up that his team “could not reward themselves with a win” for the comeback, who had only put a lay-up on the ring in the finish.
The next opponents for the Texans are the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday (10 p.m. CEST), who beat Oklahoma City Thunder with 121: 113 nV. The Serbian center Nikola Jukic recorded 30 points, twelve rebounds and ten assists and thus a triple double. Anthony Davis also performed outstandingly with 42 points and twelve rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers 116: 108 against Utah Jazz.
“I would say we are still fully involved. I’m absolutely not worried about future games, ”says Pöltl.
