The first monkeypox death occurred in Maryland.
On the 21st, the state health department announced that it had confirmed that a resident had died of monkeypox. The identity of the deceased was not disclosed and the deceased was said to be in serious condition due to impaired immune function due to monkeypox.
Authorities said: “Monkeypox can cause serious illness and even death.”
As of March 21, 700 cases of monkeypox infection have been reported in Maryland and 7,661 people have been vaccinated. Monkeypox has a low mortality rate when detected early. The monkeypox vaccine is given to people over the age of 18.
