First day of strike in front of the embassy in Washington

A group of Hondurans who went on hunger strike on Monday celebrated their first day of protest outside their country’s embassy in Washington, United States.

The president of the Fundación 15 de Septiembre, Juan Flores, is accompanied by a group of Hondurans, most of whom have suspended the action due to work commitments.

However, three Hondurans remain on hunger strike, demanding a meeting with the authorities of the Honduran consulate.

The action is also to draw the attention of the authorities to have a greater impact on the Temporary Protection Status (TPS), canceled by former President Donald Trump in 2018.

First, consuls and a Honduran ambassador to the United States should be appointed, the Honduran leader said.

He believes that it is not possible that after nine months of government the representatives of Honduras have not been appointed in the various states and in the capital of the United States.

He insisted that they will continue with the actions until they are heard by the Honduran authorities.
He stressed that by spending a day on hunger strike and not being treated by the authorities, he shows their indifference.

We are still fighting and will not fade away, said the Honduran leader.

He stressed that the action will continue until the Honduran authorities listen to their cry, which is that of thousands of Hondurans living in the United States.
