The newborn “Medicine and Surgery” course in Piacenza started on the morning of 18 October. The students of the faculty of medicine – entirely in English – of the University of Parma entered the Sala degli Arazzi of the Alberoni Gallery, in San Lazzaro. The course was activated by the University of Parma, with the collaboration of the Ausl, the Municipality of Piacenza and with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The Sala degli Arazzi is a temporary solution pending a dedicated location: the former military hospital of the city has been nominated, now unused and at the center of an urban redevelopment proposal shared by the Region, the Municipality and the Ministry of Defense.
The new master’s degree course was created with the aim of enhancing the training offer in Medicine and Surgery and the degree of internationalization of the University of Parma, as well as the offer of international university medical training in Emilia-Romagna and creating a synergy with ample development potential between the current degree course in Medicine and Surgery in Parma and the healthcare facility in the Piacenza area.
