First Day of Fall in NY, NJ, CT – NBC New York (47)

Autumn has arrived, and with it the cold too.

The first freeze warning of the season was issued Friday for Sullivan and West Ulster Counties in New York ahead of an expected drop in temperatures on Friday night. That cold will hit bottom on Saturday morning, then temperatures will soar close to 70.

Sunday will be even warmer, but you will probably want to get away from the beach.

Hurricane Fiona will continue to send large swells into our area, affecting people in coastal areas of Long Island and Jersey Shore and causing dangerous rip currents and rough waves. Beach erosion is also likely in some places.

However, the rain remains out of the forecast for most of next week, aside from the possibility of drizzle on Monday.
