First Dates viewers experience vicarious shame after serenade

“At the parties on the weekend you mainly sing in Dutch music, but do you want something completely different such as Spanish or Italian? Call me and we can arrange something!” Luc sells himself. He is therefore looking for a girlfriend who shares his hobby with him, and who is – not unimportantly – a ‘natural beauty’.

That is a must with 23-year-old Julienne from Haarlem. She also has a strong fore- and backhand. Luc is immediately impressed and thinks his chances are high. Especially because during the date Julienne indicates that she likes a dance and tells her to sing along when she has had a drink. That sounds like music to Luc’s ears. “Have another drink, then we’ll go to the karaoke bar together,” he urges her.

He doesn’t need much encouragement himself and grabs the pepper mill to treat his date to a serenade. “I’m going to sing everywhere I go, so I thought I’m going to sing now too,” he says. Although Julienne is impressed, she says afterwards that she was shocked. “At first I thought: you’re not serious”, she smiles for the camera.

His musical ode clearly helped, because the two would like to see each other again. But Luc never sang for Julienne again. And that’s for the better according to Twitter.

First Dates can be seen on NPO3 every working day at 7.30 pm. Watch Thursday’s episode here back.
