First casino to open in the Persian Gulf

Jakarta

UEA he’s about to build his first casino after being banned for so long. The plan calls for this casino to open in 2026.

Hotel and casino operator Wynn Resorts will open a casino at a luxury resort it is building in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was revealed directly by Chief Executive Officer Craig Scott Billing on Saturday (12/11/2022), Reuters reported.

The existence of this casino will obviously be the pros and cons, where the Gulf region is known as an area that has traditionally implemented stricter Islamic rules than other parts of the Middle East. With the construction of the casino, it has become a historic moment for UEA.

The development of this casino was motivated by intense commercial competition between UEA and Saudi Arabia. Where tourism in Saudi Arabia, which has begun to open up, has developed so rapidly. They are vying to become the premier destination in a region that is diversifying its oil-dependent economy.

Billings also confirmed that the casino is being built on an artificial island off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah and is expected to be completed in 2026. And this casino will be built bigger than the Wynn Las Vegas.

“For the casino component, where at least for a period of time, we’ll be operating on our own. Which makes it quite interesting, (this casino) will be bigger (than) Wynn Las Vegas,” he said.

Previously, the news of Wynn Resorts casino opening circulated since January 2022. Wynn Resorts has chosen a small emirate of the seven United Arab Emirates (UAE) i.e. Ras al Khaimah for its casino business, to be exact at Dream Island.

However, at that time, the authorities of Ras al Khaimah and Wynn Resorts did not specifically mention allowing casinos to open games in the resort.
