Good news for the Jurassians, it is not transmitted from man to man.
The coronavirus is not yet eradicated that a newcomer is already talking about him in the region. Since March, no less than 7 cases of hantavirus have been identified in the Jura. Essentially present in the north-eastern quarter of France, this virus is the cause of infections of varying severity. Supported by their doctor, some patients had to be hospitalized.
Present in particular in the stool, saliva and urine of rodents, the virus is transmitted to humans by inhalation. In fact, contamination occurs mainly during walks in the forest, handling wood or cleaning a room that has been unoccupied for some time.
No case of transmission
interhumaine
The disease that hantavirus transmits to humans is called hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. It can occur within two months of inhaling the virus, and manifests itself via symptoms similar to those of the flu: fever, headache, muscle pain or chills. In a minority of cases, these symptoms are accompanied by visual disturbances and breathing difficulties. In case of appearance of these symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor. In most cases, this virus can be treated with drugs. Good news, it has never been passed on from human to human before.
Faced with hantavirus, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) recommends wearing a mask during walks in the forest. It is also recommended to stand with your back to the wind when handling wood or soil, to avoid inhaling the virus. The Ministry of Health advises to avoid closed and abandoned places, which generally become the residences of choice for rodents. Aware of the danger represented by the arrival of this virus in the department, the prefecture of Jura and many cities are alerting their fellow citizens on their website and their social networks. The ARS has also published a recommendation guide available on its site. Wearing a mask should therefore extend his Jura reign into forests and private gardens.
