Yesterday the Tamaulipas Health Secretariat confirmed the first case of the coronavirus variant in an international traveler who arrived in the entity on December 29.

The head of the state agency, Gloria Molina Gamboa explained that the case corresponds to a 56-year-old man who arrived in Matamoros, from CDMX, positive for Covid-19 in which, after requesting the Federation to process your sample, the new variant was detected.

The secretary indicated that the travelers and flight crew, who were negative for the virus, were followed up, while actions were taken to maintain epidemiological surveillance.

Until yesterday, January 10, in the country there were one million 534,039 confirmed cases of Covid-19, and 133,706 deaths from the new coronavirus, according to the federal Ministry of Health.

The Director General of Epidemiology, José Luis Alomía Zegarra, detailed that of the 31,716 general beds, 13,656 were available, while 18,060 were in use (57% of the total).

In turn, of the 10,082 beds for critically ill patients with a ventilator, 5,172 were available and 4,910 were occupied (49%).
