What is hepatitis?
Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. The liver is responsible for, among other things, the processing of nutrients, the breakdown of toxic substances, and the support of immunity. Hepatitis is usually caused by a virus, there are different forms, named after the virus variant that causes the form (A, B, C, D and E).
Many people are carriers of a hepatitis virus without knowing it. It can sometimes take a long time before someone develops complaints. An infection is acute if it lasts less than 6 months. If an infection lasts longer, it is called chronic hepatitis.
