The breast cancer, one of the most common diseases could have a vaccine, since the first one that has been tested in animals, will already begin its human trials.

There are many researchers dedicated to finding a cure or some way to prevent it, so the drug was developed into a vaccine for Scientists at Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute, as published by ClinicalTrials.gov.

It is a kind of serum, with which the intention would be to prevent the development of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC for its acronym in English); until today, the only prophylactic option for people who are at high risk of developing it is mastectomy (surgical removal of the breast).

The trial will be done in 18 and 24 patients who have received treatment for the early stages of this form of cancer in the previous three years.

If the study carried out is successful, it will be complete by September 2022, in this way the number of participants would be expanded to continue applying it.

This vaccine prepares the body to react against a protein, α-lactalbumin, a substance that the body produces, under normal circumstances, only during the last stages of pregnancy and during lactation; but that, nevertheless, appears overexpressed in emerging tumors.

To date, the serum has been tested in female mice and other animal models and did inhibit the appearance of mammary tumors.

Nevertheless, the vaccine may not be available for general use for several years.
