With 53 exhibitors, the First Book Fair in Tulancingo started in the heart of the city, the La Floresta Garden.
In this first literary event of its kind, there are thousands of literary works for all tastes, from children’s books and coloring books, to horror, historical novels and self-help.
Although youth literature stands out among the categories that can be found among the stalls, they are not the exclusive public to which the fair is directed, since children’s comics also stand out.
According to some exhibitors, they hope it will be a good vintage in the municipality as there are always a lot of people on the site.
“First of all, God, yes, we do sell well, generally it does come out, but now we hope to pick ourselves up a bit,” said Abraham, an exhibitor.
The fair, run by the Ministry of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth and the Library Office, will be in La Floresta until May 14.
It stands out that this fair has more affordable prices than in a bookstore and according to the book, some can be found from 30 pesos.
“Well, it’s cool, there are many books that catch my attention, I’m going to buy some these days (…) I think it’s very important to read as a child, it’s very cool to imagine the things you’re reading,” Arely said, teenage reader.
It is important to mention that Mexico occupies one of the lowest places in terms of reading rates, which is why activities like these seek to promote the habit and enrich it in those who already have it.
