First Bolivian Film Festival Promotes Cultural Exchange in Spain

The Vice Ministry of Consular and Institutional Management, together with the Embassy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in Spain, both entities dependent on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promote the First Bolivian Film Festival, in the city of Murcia, Spain, in whose regional film library They will screen six outstanding Bolivian films on Saturdays in October and November 2023.

The Film Series began this Saturday, October 14, with the screening of the film American Visa (2005) by Juan Carlos Valdivia, a film that was awarded at the Huelva Festival and won several Goya awards between 2006 and 2007. The film series will continue with the films Sayariy (1996) by Mela Márquez; The Heist (2004), by Paolo Agazzi; The Andes do not Believe in God (2007), by Antonio Eguino; The Children of the Last Garden (2004), by Jorge Sanjinés; and The Heart of Jesus (2003), by Marco Loayza. The films will be shown every Saturday until November 18, at the Regional Film Library of Murcia.

The opening of the festival was attended by more than 300 people, including fellow nationals residing in Murcia and Spanish citizens, who enjoyed the film American Visa, which was dismissed with applause and tears. The Bolivian Ambassador to Spain, Nardy Suxo, the Bolivian Vice Consul in Murcia, Crhistian Ortega, participated in the inauguration of the event; in addition to the Mayor of that town council, Juan Ballesta, and representatives of the Spanish Government Delegation of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and Workers’ Commissions.

During the inauguration of the festival dedicated to Bolivian artistic production that was held at the Regional Film Library of Murcia, the work of the painter from El Alto, Elizabeth Lisazo Quispe, was exhibited; by the photographer Álvaro Salazar and the sculptor Karen Caraballo.
