Since this Tuesday, October 24, 2024, Benin has been hosting the First Biomedical Days of the Network of Hospitals in Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean (RESHAOC). This important international meeting brings to the collective reflection of the scientists present, the thorny question of the management and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
The Minister of Health, Professor Benjamin HOUNKPATIN, opened the work in the presence of the WHO Resident Representative, Dr Kouamé Jean KONAN, the Ambassador of France to Benin, His Excellency Mr. Marc VIZY and the current president of RESHAOC, Mrs. Kebe Khadidiatou SARR.
The hospital’s experts are meeting to design a model that prioritizes the quality and durability of biomedical equipment. Coming from all corners of the planet, they agree to find in Cotonou, actionable content to the challenge linked to the management of hospital equipment as well as their maintenance.
The Government of Benin, sufficiently in tune with the theme in view of the recent reforms carried out in the field of maintenance, is honored to host such a meeting. This problem was the subject of deep reflection in our country which resulted in the reforms carried out in this sector in July 2023 with the creation of a new agency whose exclusive mission is focused on hospital maintenance. he said.
For the head of the health department, the Beninese Government expects from the RESHAOC meeting, fruitful resolutions which will, without a doubt, ensure sanitation and better management of the management of biomedical equipment in health facilities.
The themes subject to discussion during this 3-day conference relate, among other things, to the importance of a national maintenance policy, regulations and standards in the field of biomedical and hospital maintenance, training and the specialization of biomedical maintenance technicians as well as the quality of suppliers or external maintenance providers.
