Aue – FC Erzgebirge Aue celebrated its first sense of achievement in 2022 and pulled SSV Jahn Regensburg into the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga.
The Saxons won 1-0 (1-0) with a goal by Prince Osei Owusu (23rd), but remain in relegation place 17. 6268 spectators watched a game with two completely different halves.
Aue, without the captain and goalkeeper Martin Männel, who was infected with Corona, started strong and had good chances through Ben Zolinski (6th) and Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn (11th). Kühn’s long-range shot was deflected to the post by Jahn goalkeeper Alexander Meyer. Since the hosts continued to work forward and hardly offered the guests any space, the opening goal fell logically. After that, Aue could have increased, but Meyer held strong. Only in the last ten minutes did Jahn find his way into the game and Jan-Niklas Beste (37th) had a very good chance to equalize.
After the break, Aue withdrew far and tried to counterattack. So there were some good chances on both sides. But as the season progressed, only Regensburg acted, but they were too imprecise in the end. In added time, Aues Jan Hochscheidt hit the post again.
