First auctions are sold in 'Once Andermaal': “I'm not really satisfied with the proceeds”

TVTonight the new VTM program ‘Eenmaal Andermaal’ premiered. In the first episode, Jacques Vermeire is flanked by fellow comedian Kamal Kharmach. Axel Daeseleire can count on the help of TV phenomenon Martien Meiland. Each duo will receive a budget of 750 euros with which they must buy 3 objects within 3 hours and then auction them for a high price. The proceeds of the auctioned objects do not disappear into the pockets of Axel and Jacques, but go entirely to Red Nose Day.

When the ordinary people turn in their beds again, Axel and Jacques are already on their way because to get the best bargains, you have to be there before the chickens. Axel picks up Martien Meiland who has never been to Antwerp. He already informs who their opponent Jacques Vermeire is. “I don’t know him, I only know Sandra Kim from 1986”, laughs the flamboyant Dutchman.

Discount in exchange for… a photo

At a flea market in the City Park, Axel and Martien immediately collide with two vases and the price can be exchanged for… a photo with both gentlemen. Jacques and Kamal find nothing on the market and change tactics. They enter a record store and find a collector’s item: a very special edition of the soundtrack to ‘The Great Gatsby’, created by Jack White of The White Stripes. Here too, 50 euros can be deducted from the price in exchange for a photo.

Two handy sisters, Ansje and Noortje Cools, then help the duo to restore their objects, or to pimp them up a bit. And then it’s hit or miss: whoever makes the most profit with his objects during the auction at the Ghent auction house Loeckx, is the winner.

Axel himself is an avid collector of everything related to crosses and crucifixes. So he expects a lot from his first item up for auction. But it doesn’t go as planned. “I’m not really happy with the yield,” said Axel.

Jacques was able to acquire a unique paravent for 290 euros. Axel doesn’t like it at all. But maybe Jacques made a good buy here…

Jacques and Kamal bought a special edition of the soundtrack of the movie ‘The Great Gatsby’ on vinyl. And with success! At the auction, they can almost double their winnings.
