First Airbus A321XLR out of the spray hall

Thanks to extra fuel capacity, the XLR will have a flight range of no less than 8700 kilometers. That is still 1,300 kilometers more than the Longe Range variant (LR). The XLR can also fly 1500 kilometers further than the Boeing 757-200, which was often used on transatlantic routes in the past.

Airbus shows on the fuselage of the test aircraft what is possible with this enormous range: for example London – Delhi and Rome – New York. You could fly to Curaçao with the A321XLR from Schiphol, but A321neo customer Transavia has already announced that it has no intention of doing so.

Earlier today it was announced that Qantas is definitively ordering the A321XLR. This concerns 20 units, in addition to orders for the same number of A220-300s and 12 A350-1000s.
