First a whistle concert, then effective! RB Leipzig clears promoted Bochum late out of the way

Leipzig – Waited a long time for salvation! RB Leipzig had a late, but fully deserved 3-0 (0-0) home win against VfL Bochum on the 7th Bundesliga matchday. Before that, they repeatedly despaired of the newcomer.

In front of 25,000 spectators in the Red Bull Arena, André Silva (69th) and double packer Christopher Nkunku (72nd / 78th) met.

The disappointing 1: 2 against Club Bruges took RB coach Jesse Marsch as an opportunity to change his team to four positions: Josko Gvardiol, Angelino, Amadou Haidara and Tyler Adams replaced Willi Orban (Infekt), Nordi Mukiele, Konrad Laimer and Dominik Szoboszlai (all bank).

Bochum’s Thomas Reis brought Robert Tesche and Takuma Asano for Eduard Löwen and Sebastian Polter (both bench) compared to the last 0-0 win against VfB Stuttgart.

The Leipzig team booked their first deal directly after an ingenious free kick variant. After faking it several times, Angelino brought the ball behind the wall, but Gvardiol headed Manuel Riemann into his arms (2nd).

A little later it became extremely dangerous for the Westphalians when there was a rapid counter-attack. Angelino sprinted alone towards Riemann, who cleverly pushed him to the outside, whereby the defensive maneuvered his jack out of the box.

In the second wave, Emil Forsberg’s shot slipped over the ball that landed at Yussuf Poulsen. Herbert Bockhorn hit the Dane halfway up the leg, referee Robert Hartmann pointed to the point (3rd). After consulting with VAR, including looking at the screen, he took the 911 back (6th).

The lead in view then turned on veteran Forsberg in particular. After taking the ball heavily, his shot in the 8th minute was no problem for Riemann.

Three turns of the pointer later, the Swede left two opponents in another counterattack, but only hit the top of the crossbar (11th).

But the Bochum team tried again and again to put pinpricks, it was mostly just the qualitative implementation that was lacking, so Elvis Rexhbecaj’s harmless attempt from the second row remained the only small exclamation mark for a long time (13th).

In addition to Forsberg, Poulsen also wanted to top up his goal account. When he graduated from Adams-Chip, Riemann got his leg extended just in time (15th). And in the 28th minute, after Angelino crossed from the left, he prevailed in a header duel against Erhan Masovic, but the ball flew next to the case.

Nkunku negligently left the 1-0 in the next scene. Kevin Kampl brought a free kick back behind the defense, where Leipzig’s current top scorer stubbornly failed with a half-high shot at the keeper. Poulsen, who ran completely free at the same time, rightly complained to the French (29th).

As far as he could, the newcomer acted bravely, sometimes pressing very early, which is why he kept inviting the home side to counterattacks. But there were also deals sometimes, Anthony Losilla awarded the second promising (36th). The Red Bulls were accompanied into the dressing room with whistles after 45 minutes.

Reis was unlikely to have had any negative things to address during the break. Nevertheless, he was well aware: If they leave the Leipzigers a gap, it will be very tight for VfL.

The longer the table penultimate could hold the zero, the more the runner-up the pressure rose, the more beads of sweat Marsch had on his forehead.

The cops were almost to be pitied, because they kept running at them, trying different variants, but were never successful. Bochum, on the other hand, became more and more toxic as time went on, and the encounter was generally more combat-oriented.

With the substitutions of Silva and Szoboszlai, Marsch should prove a lucky hand late. With his first ball contact, the latter brought a corner in front of the box, where the Portuguese nodded off – 1-0 for RB (69th).

And Silva was also able to immortalize himself as a preparer on the score sheet, stroking the play equipment to Nkunku, who overcame Riemann with a gentle lifter – 2-0 (72nd).

Suddenly the host was up for it, everything went well: Nkunku grabbed the next jack on the half-left after Gvardiol-Pass against the storming Riemann, Armel Bella Kotchap wanted to clear it up, but the attempt came too late – 3-0 (78th).

The new table seventh brought this ultimately clear threesome over the finish line.
